CacklePatch

CacklePatch was once just an ordinary raccoon—curious, dextrous, and always rummaging around for hidden treats. One fateful Halloween under a harvest moon, he happened upon a glowing purple heap in the VelvetEmerald Forest. Absolutely not suspicious of its gelatinous texture or its otherworldly luminescence, CacklePatch dug right in and began lapping it up.    

But in fact, that beguiling violet pile was actually a mysterious potion brewed by none other than Astari, the Witch of Whimsy. And it wasn’t just any concoction; it held the very essence of Halloween—fun, mischief, creativity, and a sprinkle of the wonderfully weird. With a single sip, CacklePatch transformed, embodying the playful and mysterious spirit of Halloween forevermore. On the outside, he still looks like any other raccoon, though perhaps a rather large one who is no stranger to midnight snacks. Only his eyes hint at his true nature—they gleam pumpkin orange. Of course, the top hat and long black coat he favors (that he procured through raccoon ingenuity) are also hints, if only to the very perceptive.

Now, CacklePatch resides in a cozy home nestled deep in the enchanted VelvetEmerald Forest. ShadowSleep Hollow, a lovely residence built into an ancient tree, is also where CacklePatch stores his impressive (to some) collection of odds and ends. On his adventures, CacklePatch has acquired (under somewhat mysterious circumstances) many bits of colored yarn, two corks, a marble chess piece, a shard of a mirror (still works great), and upwards of several shiny gum wrappers.   

As the Spirit of Halloween, CacklePatch fills his nights treasure hunting and seeking out his fellow off beat hearts. Assisting him in his nocturnal escapades is Venus the Spy Bat, a quirky little critter with a skill for seeing things backwards and upside-down. 

Together, CacklePatch and Venus are a Halloween duo like no other. With Venus’s “eyes in the sky” and CacklePatch’s knack for surprises, they scan for those who march to their own beat, leaving behind playful “trick and treats” that bring a touch of magic to everyday lives. Whether it’s a pumpkin left on your doorstep, a piece of candy snuck into your pocket or an unexpected tune added to your playlist, each gift is a nod to the strange and splendidly spirited nature of Halloween.
